Hyperscale data centre to be built in Jakarta

Logisitics firm pairing up with a data centre provider in Indonesia.

LOGOS, the Asia Pacific logistics specialist, and Pure Data Centres, the global data centre developer and operator have announced the development of a hyperscale data centre in Jakarta.

The 20,000 square meter, 20-megawatt project is designed to meet the exacting efficiency and availability standards of the world’s most demanding customers. The building is currently under construction and will be ready for customer operation in Q1 2022.

The state-of-the-art project reflects the commitment of both LOGOS and Pure to the Indonesian data centre market. It provides significant capacity for a large, growing economy with a substantial number of homegrown technology businesses.

The addition of a large new data centre built to hyperscale requirements will further accelerate Jakarta’s emergence on the global tech scene.

This development continues LOGOS’ move into the growing data centre sector, with the business recently establishing a Green Data Centre initiative to respond to its capital partners’interest in the sector and the strong demand from leading cloud service providers and co-location customers across Asia Pacific. It is Pure’s first data centre development in Indonesia and marks an important new strategic region for the company as it expands its global footprint.

LOGOS’ Managing Director, Stephen Hawkins said]the significant growth in data centres is being driven by gains in online commerce alongside the need for critical cloud service infrastructure to support their business expansion and client requirements.

“Existing logistics properties are, in many cases, well-suited to accommodate the mix of power and network fiber connectivity supporting data centre businesses, and our new data centre is a great example of this,” he said.

According LOGOS there has been a strong demand from both new and existing capital partners wanting to deploy significant capital into the Green Data Centre initiative and believe there are many opportunities across the region to support our customers’ complex needs in this underserved but rapidly expanding market.
